Below is the Ivy League Basketball Roundup for Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Dartmouth, once again, was the only team to play, as they played Mercer on the road Tuesday night.

 

Dartmouth Tops Mercer for Third Win In Last Four Games

Four Dartmouth players scored in double digits including Miles Wright with 14 points off the bench. All 14 of those points came in the first half for Miles. The Big Green won easily 67-51 over Mercer.

Mercer started well by taking a 10-4 lead going into the first TV timeout. The Big Green came out after that and went on a 13-0 run before a three pointer by Jordan Strawberry ended the scoring drought. Dartmouth had a strong surge at the end of the half with a 12-6 run to lead 33-22 at the break.

In the first half, Miles Wright had 14 points and 4 rebounds on 5 of 7 shooting. The Big Green shot 48% from the field (12 of 25) and were 4 of 9 from beyond the arc (44.4%). They were much better on the glass grabbing 19 rebounds to Mercer’s 10. The Bears were led by T.J. Halice with 5 points. Darious Moten and Phillip Leonard both had 4 points. Mercer shot 33.3% from the field (7 of 21) and hit 4 of 11 three pointers (36.4%). Both teams committed 6 turnovers in the first half.

Early in the second half Alex Mitola drained 2 three pointers to help maintain a double digit lead for Dartmouth. The Big Green continued to grow the lead and led by as much as 23 late in the game. A 9-2 run by Mercer to end the game made it a 67-51 final score.

Kevin Crescenzi had 12 points on 4 of 5 shooting and went 4 of 4 from beyond the arc in the second half for Dartmouth. Connor Boehm finished with 9 points. The Big Green shot 50% from the field in the second half (12 of 24) and hit 6 of 10 from the perimeter. Mercer was led in the second half by Ike Nwamu on 4 of 6 shooting. They shot 42.3% from the field (11 of 26) and hit 3 of 7 three pointers (42.9%).

Dartmouth was led by Alex Mitola and Miles Wright with 14 points. Connor Boehm finished with 13 points while Kevin Crescenzi scored 12 points. The Big Green went 24 of 49 from the field (49%) and hit 10 of 19 three pointers (52.6%). They went 9 of 11 from the free throw line, out-rebounded Mercer 33-25, had 15 assists, and committed 10 turnovers.

Ike Nwamu scored 13 points to lead Mercer while Jordan Strawberry had 11 points. The Bears went 18 of 47 from the field (38.3%) and hit 7 of 18 three pointers (38.9%). They went 8 of 11 from the free throw line (72.7%), had 11 assists, and committed 9 turnovers.

Dartmouth (4-5) faces Northern Illinois (4-3) at home on Friday night. Mercer (5-5) faces Bethune-Cookman (3-8) at home on Friday.
