Northern Illinois has suspended linebacker Rasheen Lemon indefinitely after he was arrested for domestic battery and unlawful restraint, according to the DeKalb Daily Chronicle.

From the article:

“Lemon was suspended immediately after the Huskies learned of the charge last week, said Donna Turner, the associate athletic director for communications.

Northern Illinois coach Rod Carey would not comment on the matter, Turner said.

According to court documents, Lemon, 22, and his girlfriend were arguing around 2 a.m. on April 12 when he pushed her to the ground and straddled her to hold her down. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Lemon also stepped on her chest and caused a cut to the interior of her bottom lip, court records show.”

Lemon would be a big loss for the Huskies on defense. In 2014, he was the team’s second-leading tackler with 90 stop, but also had 2.5 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles.

In Lemon’s first two years on the field in 2012 and 2013, he tallied 25 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1.5 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble in 16 games.

Lemon will be a redshirt senior in 2015 if he makes it back on the field for the Huskies.

Even without Lemon, the Huskies return Boomer Mays at linebacker who has started the last two years for NIU. He has 157 tackles, 2 sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, and 2 forced fumbles over the past two years.
