CACC Adds Monroe University

The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) added Monroe University (New Rochelle, New York) as its next full member starting with the 2026-27 academic year. Monroe is currently a four-year institution, but as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the athletic teams are only open to freshmen and sophomores. All of Monroe’s current teams will join the CACC in 2026-27, except for men’s volleyball, which isn’t sponsored by the conference. The CACC will have 12 full members when Monroe joins.

Trinity Christian Closing

Trinity Christian College (Palos Heights, Illinois) will close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. Trinity Christian is a member of the NAIA’s Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference, which is slated to have 12 members for 2026-27. The CCAC has seen several membership changes over the last five years. Robert Morris University in Chicago merged with Roosevelt University at the start of the 2020-21 academic year. Roosevelt later left the CCAC and moved up to NCAA Division 2 in 2024-25. Lincoln College (Lincoln, Illinois) closed in 2022, Trinity International University (Deerfield, Illinois) moved to online-only classes in 2023, and Cardinal Stritch University (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) closed in 2023.

Trinity Christian announced it has teach-out agreements in place with Calvin University (Grand Rapids, Michigan), as well as fellow CCAC members Olivet Nazarene University (Bourbonnais, Illinois) and Saint Xavier University (Chicago, Illinois). The college also stated in the FAQs that it plans to continue offering all athletics through the end of the 2025-26 academic year, but that could change for some sports as the end of the semester approaches and current students consider their transfer options.

Trinity Christian becomes the second NAIA school to announce its closure this academic year. Siena Heights University (Adrian, Michigan) will also close at the end of the 2025-26 academic year. Below is a table showing the NCAA and NAIA schools that have announced they would close or discontinue athletics. Southwest Virginia Community College (Cedar Bluff, Virginia) also announced it would discontinue athletics after the 2025-26 academic year.
