College Sports Realignment Tracker for 2026 and Beyond

For a list of changes in effect starting with the current 2025-26 academic year, click here. This article will be updated throughout the current academic year as more changes become known.

Latest Changes

NCAA Division 1: Denver will leave the Summit League and join the WCC, Le Moyne will add two sports, and Mississippi Valley State will make three changes (10/31/25); Purdue Fort Wayne will add 10 club sports (10/30/25); The Mountain West will sponsor men’s soccer and men’s swimming & diving in 2026-27, while Utah Tech will join the MW in baseball (10/29/25); Marquette moved the start of women’s swimming to the 2026-27 academic year (10/28/25).

NCAA Division 2: Dominican (NY) will add flag football (10/31/25); Bridgeport will add flag football (10/30/25).

NCAA Division 3: Fitchburg State will add women’s hockey (10/31/25); Illinois Wesleyan will add men’s bowling (10/30/25); Anna Maria will add competitive cheer (10/29/25); Anna Maria will add competitive dance and Minnesota Morris will add men’s tennis (10/28/25); Alverno will add track & field (10/27/25).

NAIA: Goshen will add disc golf programs and William Penn will add flag football (10/30/25); Missouri Baptist will add women’s flag football (10/28/25).

Another new academic year is upon us as the calendar turns to July 1. That means we can begin looking to the future for the changes happening for the next academic year in 2026-27. We will list the known changes for Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and the NAIA below. This list will not include previous years’ changes from 2024-25 or earlier realignment moves. We also have a companion article showing the current membership in 2025-26, along with future changes for every conference in the NCAA and NAIA.

New for this year is a realignment dashboard that lets you choose between the academic year in question. Also included in this year’s installment are all individual sports changes for a school when it makes a full membership change. This provides a more accurate accounting of the final tally. As always, this list is subject to change, and some entries may be removed if a school decides to keep one of its sports in its current conference.

The table below shows each school, sport(s), previous conference, new conference, first season in the new conference, and change type (conference change, sport added, or sport discontinued) in separate columns. Clicking the hyperlink in the new conference for the school (4th column in the table) will take you directly to the day of the update. An external link to the news is provided in the 5th column called “First Season in New Conference”. A search function is provided below the table name, and the table is limited to 50 entries at a time due to the large number of entries. An (M) or (W) denotes whether the sport listed is men’s or women’s. Columns “Team”, “Sport(s)”, “Old Conference”, and “Change Type” can be sorted.
