Idaho Swaps SEC Opponents In 2017
The Idaho Vandals have announced that they will be playing a different SEC opponent in 2017. Instead of facing the Florida Gators in Gainesville during the 2017 season, the Vandals will now travel to Columbia, Missouri to face the Missouri Tigers.
Idaho will be paid $1.3 million for the trip to Missouri. The scheduled date of the game is October 21, 2017.
The 2017 game versus Florida was set to be a make up of last season’s game. The game in 2014 was cancelled due to bad weather and the two schools originally agreed to play the rescheduled game in 2017. Florida still paid the Vandals $975,000 per the agreement.
While the Gators and Vandals will not play in 2017, the two schools will play each other at some point in the future as agreed in the contract.
In 2017, Florida will face the Michigan Wolverines at a neutral site and also have to play Colorado State once between 2017 and 2020. The game against the Rams is due to the Gators buying out head coach Jim McElwain and becoming the head coach of Florida.
