Kentucky Derby News For April 26, 2015

The work everyone was waiting for on Sunday came to fruition with American Pharoah. He worked five furlongs in a dazzling :58 flat with splits of :11.40, :23, :34.60, and :46.40. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:11.40 and seven furlongs in 1:27.

War Story was back on the track with a mile and a half gallop. He will spend some time in the paddock this week and also work at the starting gate on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bold Conquest also galloped a mile and a half on Sunday. He will work on Monday morning, according to trainer Steve Asmussen.

The California shippers of Dortmund, Firing Line, and Bolo left Sunday morning and arrived just before noon Louisville.

Upstart galloped Sunday morning in Florida going a half-mile to fifth eighths a day after his five furlong workout. Both he and Frosted will leave Palm Meadows and head to Kentucky on Tuesday.

El Kabeir will arrive in Kentucky early on Monday morning, as he leaves New York on Sunday afternoon.

The trio of Itsaknockout, Materiality, and Stanford all walked the shedrow after working on Friday. At Keeneland, Carpe Diem jogged a mile and he will be at Churchill on Monday.

Danzig Moon galloped a mile and a half on Sunday morning. He will have some time in the paddock on Monday.

Far Right galloped a mile and a half on Sunday while Frammento galloped at Keeneland. Frammento is currently 21st on the Kentucky Derby Points Leaderboard of horses who are expected to enter.

International Star walked the shedrow after going four furlongs in :50.80 on Saturday. He is currently at the Trackside Training Center and will van over to Churchill on Wednesday morning.

Keen Ice also walked the shedrow after his five furlong workout on Saturday. Mr. Z galloped at Churchill and was also schooled in the paddock on Sunday morning.

Ocho Ocho Ocho galloped a mile and a half while Tencendur jogged a mile.

Mubtaahij went around the Arlington Park main track once on Sunday after his quick closing workout on Saturday. He will van down to Churchill on Monday while his trainer Mike de Kock will be in the United States on Monday.

Kentucky Oaks News

There were still some horses putting in their final works prior to the Oaks on Sunday morning.

Shook Up was the first Oaks worker out to train. She went four furlongs in :50 with internal fractions of :13.20, :24.60, and a gallop out in 1:04.40 for five furlongs

Puca also went four furlongs completing the distance in :48.20 while in company with Japan. Her splits were :12.60, :24.80, :36.40 and a five furlong gallop out in 1:01.20.

I’m A Chatterbox, one of the favorites for the Oaks, worked five furlongs in 1:01 flat. Her splits were :11.80, :23.80, :36, and a gallop out for six furlongs in 1:14.40.

Chatterbox’s stablemate Lovely Maria also went five furlongs for trainer Larry Jones. She completed the work in :59.60 with internal fractions of :12, :23.80, :35.80, :47.60, and a six furlong gallop out in 1:13.40.

Angela Renee and Eskenformoney both simply walked on Sunday. Birdatthewire walked in the shedrow after her five furlong work on Saturday.

Condo Commando was schooled in the paddock and then jogged over the track on Sunday. Forever Unbridled jogged a mile.

Include Betty walked the shedrow while the pair of Luminance and Maybellene both galloped a mile and a half. That duo will both breeze on Monday.

Oceanwave jogged a mile on Sunday while Sarah Sis schooled in the paddock and then did a little jogging on the track.

Stellar Wind arrived at Churchill Downs early Sunday afternoon after her flight from California.

Other Workouts

Honor Code worked four furlongs at Belmont in :47.60 with internal splits of :12.60 and :24.20. He galloped out five furlongs in :59.20, six furlongs in 1:12.40, and seven furlongs in 1:27.80. He will run in the Grade 2 Alysheba Stakes on Friday at Churchill Downs.

The reigning sprinter of the year Work All Week put in a five furlong move. He completed the distance in :59.20 with splits of :12.40, :24, :35.40, and :47.60. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.40. He is not expected to race until May 30 in the Grade 3 Aristides at Churchill.

Work All Week’s stablemate The Pizza Man also went out on Sunday morning with a six furlong work in 1:16.20.
